Call of the Maid 02

Maid be Upon Ye

Millicas Gremory wasn’t really all that fussy about things usually. He rose early, worked as soon as he had completed his morning routine on anything that needed to be done for the day, and was generally quite mild mannered.

But for some strange reason, his Father thought it would be a good idea to bring a maid into his room as he was getting ready to take a shower in the attached bathroom, which his family was quite insistent should only be separated by a thin sheet of almost see-through waterproof fabric.

His family were all nudists, he was aware, and he had gotten quite used to such. But he was fairly certain the new hire was not used to such things, and so it was quite disrespectful of his father to drop a maid into his room while he was standing in his birthday-suit in the shower trying to lather up, with only the words “Woe, Maid be upon ye,” before leaving in a hurry.

The new maid stamped her feet and yelled after Millicas’ father. “I am not a plague, you ass!” She huffed and turned to the shower. Millicas couldn’t quite see her, she definitely saw him. “… you’re not expecting me to help you bathe, are you?”

“I am a fully grown adult Devil, thank you very much,” Millicas said, his tone as dry as the Sahara desert. “I would rather avoid being bathed by maids like I was some spoiled child.”

“Your father literally dropped me in on you showering. Forgive a girl for wondering,” she said, before sighing.

“I’m not angry with you,” he grunted. “I’m annoyed with my Father for not accounting for the personal comfort of a new hire.”

Because he didn’t recognize her voice, so she must have been a new maid. “Plus, he is overbearing at times. Feel free to ignore him if he does this again in the future, or call my mother — Grayfia — on him.”

“Noted,” the girl said, with something resembling appreciation in her tone, even if she still seemed disgruntled. “I’ll be in the next room whenever you’re finished.” Her steps echoed away, and the door closed behind her.

“… I probably should have warned her that the next room in that direction is Rias’s Hentai Library for her and her boytoy Issei.”

Suffice to say, he wasn’t going to enjoy the conversation with the new hire and explaining that yes, that was all commissioned Hentai of his Aunt, and no, it wasn’t his.

The next time he saw her was at breakfast, blushing and looking away from him as he spooned some beans onto his toast, like a proper British man would during their breakfast. It was quite a decent breakfast, with eggs benedict, a rasher or two of bacon, and even a side of sausages to go with a nice mug of hot English Breakfast tea.

Despite the simplicity of it, even the addition of poached eggs were done so splendidly that Millicas was quite happy to simply sit and relax, slowly puttering away at his course work for the prestigious University of Kuoh while he ate. After all, even if it were to go cold, it would still be quite delicious.

The maid, named Sakuya as Millicas had found out, had been invited to join him for breakfast. Yet, compared to Millicas’ quiet appreciation of the authentic British breakfast, the maid seemed far more analytical. Every bite was carefully measured, every ingredient separately tried and followed up with her staring off into space in quiet contemplation. She did this for everything, no exceptions: the sauce for the beans, the beans themselves, the toasted bread, the rasher of bacon, the sausages, etc.

Sakuya wasn’t eating the food. She was dissecting it with a machine-like intensity. Finally, she stood up, hands on table, leaning toward Millicas, a focused, laser like gleam in her eye. “That. Was. Glorious,” she breathed. “The egg yolk perfectly softens the toast, adding a savory flavor without overly soaking it, while the beans are, just, master class, offering their own smoky flavor that the tomato based sauce only contemplates and is enhanced with the residual grease of the bacon and sausages. This was a magnificent Vietnamese breakfast and I must speak to the chef who made it!”

“Wot?” he asked, utterly stumped by the admission she had made in the awkward realization that this was going to be a long, long training period for her as a maid from the sounds of it.

Any further words, or even the chance for words, were lost as the maid sprinted from her seat, rushing off to the kitchens to presumably terrorize Ol’ Chef Ramsay.

At least she didn’t eat any of Chef Ramsay’s special dishes. He had the feeling she would have made a mess of her maid outfit from the flavor of his summoned Chef’s best work.

“WHO LET THIS IDIOT MAIDWICH IN MY FUCKING KITCHEN?” Ramsay shouted, thundering through the Gremory mansion, followed by the ensuing crash of a body being hurled outward.

Welp, it looked like there was a long way to go.

After breakfast and a bit more schoolwork, Millicas got to work on his finances. Such a thing was vital when he had stocks, bonds, and various other investments going in all aspects of both supernatural and mundane society.

He spent an hour going over the dealings and what was going well, and what wasn’t working out as he had planned, and saw that there was something in particular he wished to pull out of.

Nvidia, AMD, Microsoft, Google, and other such companies had started relying on this AI technology, leaving him with a feeling of frustration and annoyance. So instead, he pulled out of them, and used the funds from such to found a company that was built around supporting real creators, with strict rules and guidelines banning the use of LLMS or Generative AI or other such tools.

Because while such things seemed like they would work out and be cheaper for corporations, he was quite certain that such things would actually be more expensive in the long run, and a genuine waste of his money, when he could simply train genuine talent and support them, while profiting off of a percentage of the sales they made to others.

Because yes, it really was that simple. Make a trusted platform for artists, authors, and other creative minds to sell on, don’t charge them exorbitant fees, and don’t force an ungodly amount of ads down the throats of the people, and you would make an obscene amount of money from the ones who truly had the extra cash to spare, and the power to change the world.

Furries.

While Milicas was relaxing and taking a lunch break from his studies, he slowly munched his premade Bento he had taken from Rias’s private stash, along with a purple Kool-Aid that Koneko had very seriously told him not to drink for some reason. But really, it was just Kool-Aid, who cared if it was grape flavored.

Still, when his new Maid wandered over to speak with him, he was almost finished, and ready to get back to typing away on his laptop for his university courses. He had Research for his PHD in Nuclear Physics to complete after all.

If he was going to become a real life version of Dr. Nuclear like on Serafall’s show, and take up the mantle when the stylish old man passed on, he needed to actually have a PHD after all. It was his dream to look half as good while showing people how cool science could be.

Sakuya was sipping on a juice box of her own. “I have absolutely no idea what any of this means. Is this meant to cause psionic damage? I saw a scroll in the Middle East one time while tracking down a forbidden humus recipe like that. Really screwed up my eyes for a few days. Not sure what happened to it.” She punctuated her casual reveal with a long draw of her juice box.

“Well, only if you haven’t learned the prerequisites,” Milicas chuckled. “Like math, English, German, Japanese and Science.”

He snorted. “But it’s actually really cool when you can realize what it does. Seriously, imagine being able to have the power of the sun, in the palm of your hand. And then being able to take a part of that, and use it to power every device in the whole world, every stove, every computer, every fridge, for a thousand years.”

“Neat,” Sakuya noted, before draining her juice box.

“Alright,” Milicas waved her off. “Go check in with the other maids and see if they need any help or something Sakuya. I’ll be done and ready for my training routine in an hour.”

“Sure,” Sakuya commented, before departing, notably more interested in what the other maids may be doing than in further interaction with him.

Of course, Milicas didn’t bother to remind her that she’d need to be in on the training herself for the sparring portion. She already knew, after all, and probably hated his guts for it.

…Well, that and his Father’s shitty introduction. Fuck his dad.

AN:

Demension: Once again, I love working with Hidden and Kitsune. Is very fun getting this work done with them. And also Maids are love, Maids are life.

HiddenMaster: Indeed. Chapter was quite fun and seeing Millicas with his own life is jolly good fun….

Summoned chef Gordon god damn Ramsay chucking Sakuya out of his kitchen and calling her an idiot maidwich might be my favorite moment in this story so far. That and Sakuya casually having experience all over the world.

Incidentally, not even that unusual for her to get attacked by rival chefs. Kinda just happens in her life.

Kitsu: Mmmm. Mmmaiids. Munch.

HiddenMaster: Indeed. Maids are yummy but not in a food way. I uh, I feel like I am going to make this AN r rated if I continue. So you wanna know what else is yummy and amazing!?
