Chapter 13: Heroine's Perspective is Great, Isn't It?

[Perspective]

Basically, regardless of the medium, a story progresses around a single point of view. This point of view is what's called first-person, second-person, or third-person.

One of these is chosen, and the story is described from that perspective.

Especially in novels, which have few or no illustrations, it's crucial to fix and clearly define the point of view, as confusion can easily arise if it's unclear who is speaking.

It's difficult to follow if the point of view jumps around within the same sentence, even if there are clear breaks between sentences.

Most stories are told from the first-person perspective of the protagonist, describing various scenes. Episodes like meeting the heroine, deepening their relationship, and confession scenes are easier to write from the protagonist's point of view, allowing the reader to immerse themselves in the protagonist's shoes.

Of course, I have no objection to writing from the protagonist's perspective. It's easy to understand, and it allows us to learn about the protagonist's character.

However, the first-person perspective has limitations: it cannot describe things the point-setter doesn't know or can't see.

Therefore, there are many parts that are difficult to write. For example, when writing a story from the protagonist's first-person perspective, the heroine's feelings can only be described from the protagonist's subjective point of view. The protagonist has no way of knowing what the heroine truly thinks.

However, there are times when this is a good thing. For example, suppose there was an event that was completely insignificant and ordinary to the protagonist, treated as just another everyday occurrence from his perspective. However, for the heroine, it might have been an unforgettable event, perhaps even a life-changing one.

In a first-person perspective, the reader or viewer, who sees the world through the protagonist, would never know this.

However, that's only true if the point of view doesn't change.

By shifting the point of view from the protagonist to the heroine and describing the same event from that perspective, the emotional impact of the event is heightened, allowing for a stronger immersion in both the protagonist and the heroine! It also boosts the protagonist's likeability!

Well, basically, I love rom-com that include the heroine's perspective...

'I especially love storylines where the sickly heroine passionately recounts how much Protagonist-kun has saved her.'

★★★

It's been several days since Chiharu-kun was officially welcomed into the Onjōji household.

He seems to have gotten used to being called 'Chiharu', and now responds properly when Otou-sama, Okaa-sama, Sakura-chan, and the other servants call him.

When called 'Chiharu', he tilts his head and runs over to the person who called him, with an expression that seems to say, "You called me?"

It's incredibly endearing.

He's kind of like a puppy, you know? So cute!!

Especially when Chitose-chan calls him, his face lights up, and he comes flying over like the wind. It's so incredibly cute, I just want to pet him!

'Well, Chitose-chan is still cuter, though!'

Anyway, since my reincarnation, I've been living a fulfilling life as a sickly heroine, but recently it's been especially much more fulfilling.

I think the biggest reason is that Chiharu-kun has appeared, and he's the kind of person who makes me honestly think, "Well, the protagonist has appeared, as a heroine, I have no choice but to be conquered by him."

'The scene where Chitose-chan and Chiharu-kun first met was just the BEST!!'

Amidst the falling snow, Chitose-chan ignores the surrounding noise and approaches the wounded boy without regard for her own safety.

In a game or manga, that scene would definitely have its own special BGM playing. It was definitely the kind of memorable scene that would play in a flashback when the protagonist is in a desperate situation, to inspire them to keep going.

And there was so much more after that.

The scene where Chitose-chan asks her father to let Chiharu-kun into their family was really great.

It was fantastic to see Chitose-chan play the heroine, earnestly pleading for the protagonist.

I've permanently saved the image of Chitose-chan trembling, covered in sweat, desperately begging her father despite his attempts to stop her. She was prepared to spit up blood if it didn't work, so she was both happy and a little disappointed that her father accepted so easily.

Chitose-chan had always wanted to try the move of a sickly heroine, covering her mouth and coughing, with blood on her hand... but I suppose it's best not to overuse it, and I'll save it for the right time.

'A sickly heroine is only truly a heroine when she coughs up blood at the crucial moment!'

By the way, hemoptysis and vomiting blood are used differently depending on the organ involved, and the color of the blood is also different, so as a fan of sickly heroines, I intend to understand this correctly and cough up blood correctly when the time is right.

The blood spreading thickly, staining Chitose-chan's pale skin, and yet Chitose-chan still smiling bravely and fragilely in that state. This is truly one of the hallmarks of a sickly heroine, and it's safe to say this is destined to be a memorable scene.

I can't wait to use it!

The fact that there's a specific partner in Chiharu-kun makes my imagination run wild even more.

'I'll cough up blood in the best possible situation! Remember that forever, Chiharu-kun!!!'

Furthermore, it was a stroke of luck that I even got to name Chiharu-kun.

Those kinds of events are usually handled by mentors or surrogate parents, so it might not be considered typical heroine behavior.

However, the context of saving him from the pain caused by his Yang energy makes it feel much more heroine-like.

To receive a name from the girl who is the counterpart to himself and rescued him from a world drenched in pain

'Chitose-chan and Chiharu-kun are truly destined to be together!'

On top of that, the name I chose, Chiharu, incorporates one character from Chitose-chan's name.

Incidentally, I chose this name purely for my own enjoyment.

'Isn't it great... a heroine who's a little possessive...? Especially when a frail, sickly heroine like Chitose-chan shows that side...!'

Wow, even so, they are opposing forces of Yin and Yang, and even their names are like this.

Chitose-chan is truly the main heroine.

If this were a game package, they'd definitely be featured together in the center...!

It's impossible not to buy it just for the packaging!

I can't thank Chiharu-kun enough.

To think he's shown so much love and affection after only a few days of knowing me—he truly is Chitose-chan's counterpart.

And on top of that, he's still a child, so he's just adorable!

Really adorable!

Almost as adorable as Chitose-chan!

And the look on his face the moment Chitose-chan named him was incredible.

Chitose-chan almost became a mother in one leap.

.... Well, she will become a mother eventually!

But she can't become a mother without going through the process of love and affection.

The process is what's important, not the result.

'Let's make lots of memories together, Chiharu-kun!!!'

I think I'll probably almost die a few times, vomit blood, and collapse in front of you—but don't worry!

Chitose-chan won't die, so rest assured!

A bad ending doesn't suit either Chitose-chan or Chiharu-kun! Let's be happy together!!!

Before that, let's do lots of things we'll never forget.

"Chi~haru~"

"!"

"Chitose and Chiharu are really close, aren't they, Darling?"

"Yes. They're like real siblings..."

"It'll be alright. I'm sure those two will... Fufu~"

".... That's right. And if anything happens, we'll just support them."

"That's true. As expected of My Darling. You're the person I love the most."

"....Hmm..."

"Ara, blushing?"

"S-Stop teasing me, Kotose!"

"Ara-ara, that's practically the answer itself, isn't it, Darling?"

(Let's aim to be a loving couple like Otou-sama and Okaa-sama!

But seriously, what is it about this adorable protagonist?

Or rather, watching the interactions between the still-young Chitose-chan and Chiharu-kun is truly heartwarming, isn't it?!

To think that these two will grow up and do all sorts of things... Ahhh, it's so satisfying!!)
