Chapter 60: Sister Lisa

Chapter 60: Sister Lisa
“When are you going to let me go?”
Inside the Goth Grand Hotel, Collei asked while feeling the coolness of the ointment.
At the moment, she was on all fours, letting Bai Luo apply medicine to her back.
It wasn't that she didn't want to lie down. The main reason was that he had already applied ointment to the front of her body, and she didn't want to get the clean sheets dirty.
At first, she had insisted on applying the ointment herself.
But there were some places she simply couldn't reach without someone else's help.
And the disease afflicting her could only be ignored by this guy, Bai Luo. In the end, she had no choice but to compromise.
It was just medical treatment... He was only treating her wounds.
Besides, he'd already seen everything anyway. There was no point worrying about it anymore.
And compared to the other girls her age, her body wasn't exactly something pleasant to look at.
“I never stopped you.”
Bai Luo carefully covered every one of the hideous wounds on Collei's body with ointment, making sure not to miss a single spot.
The wounds left behind by this disease were even more horrifying than burns. The bright-red muscle tissue was enough to make an ordinary person feel sick at the sight of it.
But Bai Luo had seen all kinds of things and had long since grown accustomed to such sights.
In a sense, he wasn't entirely unrelated to the emergence of this disease.
Or rather, the Fatui weren't.
“Tch. Not a single word you say can be trusted.”
Collei glanced at the barely noticeable wires stretched across the window and couldn't help rolling her eyes.
As if those wires were there to keep other people from coming in.
“You make it sound like I've ever lied to you.”
Bai Luo had been applying ointment to her waist. Upon hearing her complaint, he couldn't resist giving her a smack.
“Eek—!”
The cool sensation made Collei let out a strange little sound.
The moment she realized what kind of sound she had just made, she immediately covered her mouth.
When she turned to look at Bai Luo, her eyes were filled with resentment.
She looked just like a little cat that had been bullied.
“Alright, stand up. I'll wrap your bandages, and then we'll go pay a visit to that big sister.”
Bai Luo carefully gathered up the old bandages that had been discarded to the side. They would need to be burned later.
Before they returned, the Fatui's subordinates had already prepared a fresh set of bandages.
No matter how terrible the Fatui's reputation was across Teyvat, one thing had to be admitted: their efficiency was genuinely impressive.
Not only the bandages—even the clothes Collei had been wearing for the past two days had to be burned.
Still, when she saw the fully armed Fatui soldiers take the clothes away, Collei couldn't help looking reluctant.
She had spent most of her life wandering from place to place. Given her disease, she considered herself lucky whenever someone was willing to give her a piece of clothing.
Sometimes, a single outfit would have to last her through two entire countries.
Clothes of this quality had once been something she could only wear in her dreams.
She had never even experienced the smooth, comfortable feeling of such fine fabric against her skin—not even in her dreams.
She never expected that after coming to Mondstadt, she would change into two completely different outfits within just a few days.
It was so extravagant.
After changing into her new clothes, Bai Luo led Collei out of the Goth Grand Hotel.
Mondstadt had no curfew, but there weren't many people wandering the streets at night.
The only places where drunkards could frequently be spotted were the Cat's Tail and Angel's Share.
During the Windblume Festival, however, members of the Knights of Favonius could often be seen relaxing there as well.
Normally, the Knights absolutely wouldn't allow their members to indulge themselves like this. But everyone had been working incredibly hard during the Windblume Festival.
As long as they weren't neglecting their duties, the higher-ups simply chose to turn a blind eye.
With the city illuminated by countless lights and bathed in moonlight, Mondstadt seemed even more peaceful, while also taking on a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere.
Walking along the irregular stone-paved streets, listening to the tap-tap of their footsteps and the creak-creak of the windmills turning, gave one an inexplicable sense of security.
Of all the cities in Teyvat, Mondstadt was probably one of Collei's favorites.
Though because of the bandages covering her entire body, passersby still occasionally cast strange looks in her direction.
“Where are we going?”
After noticing those odd gazes, Collei instinctively grabbed Bai Luo's hand and asked in a low voice.
She suddenly found herself missing the life they'd spent in the wilderness over the past few days.
At least no one out there had looked at her like this.
The milk was an exception.
That had been a nightmare.
“We're almost there.”
Bai Luo looked toward the north of the city and answered.
The northern part of Mondstadt was mostly occupied by taller buildings.
Most of the people living here were high-ranking members of the Church of Favonius and knights of the Knights of Favonius.
It could be considered an upscale district.
And the person they were here to visit lived in this area as well.
They stepped onto moss-covered stone paths, climbed one flight of stairs after another, and avoided the patrolling knights before finally arriving beneath an apartment building.
“What are you doing...?”
Seeing Bai Luo pull a dagger from behind his waist, Collei suddenly got a bad feeling.
“Obviously, we're going to see that capable big sister.”
After activating the mechanism, Bai Luo tossed the dagger lightly in his hand.
Then, after building up some momentum, he threw it upward.
The dagger, trailing a length of wire behind it, wrapped itself around the railing of the balcony.
“Hold on to me.”
“???”
Before Collei could even react, Bai Luo had already taken her with him, using the wire to propel them up onto the balcony.
. . .
Lisa hated being disturbed before breakfast, during her afternoon nap, and after dinner.
As the librarian of the Knights of Favonius, she was a very busy woman. Dealing with people who borrowed books and never returned them was exhausting enough.
Only during those times did she have a little free time to read the classics she enjoyed and sample pastries and tea from neighboring nations.
After taking a bath, she had changed into a pale-purple lace-trimmed nightgown. She lazily curled up on the soft sofa, letting her still-damp long hair rest against her collarbones as she flipped through the book in her hands.
The arrival of the Windblume Festival also meant business opportunities.
Countless merchants from foreign lands had gathered in this city-state of freedom like flies drawn to the scent of blood.
Among them, a merchant from Liyue had brought along a pirated book.
Apparently, someone had secretly smuggled it out of Inazuma. On the surface, it was merely a somewhat unconventional romance novel, but it actually contained all sorts of hidden secrets. It was even worthy of being placed in the restricted section of the library.
However, before she could officially open the novel, an unwelcome guest had already arrived.
Seeing the dagger wrapped around the railing of her balcony, a faint glow appeared in Lisa's Vision.
The Favonius Codex resting beside her had already begun turning its pages on its own, despite there being no wind.
The wire retracted.
A pitch-black figure flipped onto the balcony.
He wasn't wearing a mask, and there was a gentle smile on his face.
He looked completely different from the Black Death who, according to Diluc, could ignore all attacks.
If he hadn't been carrying a little girl with one hand, Lisa probably would have already let him experience firsthand what it meant to be struck by a nine-hit lightning combo.
“Sorry to visit so late at night. I hope I haven't disturbed your leisure, beautiful lady.”
The night breeze ruffled Bai Luo's short black hair. With a smile on his face, he looked almost like a slightly bashful young man greeting the pretty lady next door.
“Lady?”
The Favonius Codex quietly descended, and Lisa sat up straight.
“You should call me Sister.”
