Chapter 35: The Resurrection of the Kaima God

Just to be clear, don't forget that the main story's world is a "Depressing, Fantasy, Yuri, Sadistic Eroge World"

...The main character is so... well, you know, that even I, the writer, might forget about it (^∀^;)

Chapter 35: The Resurrection of the Kaima God

"...!!! Mima—....Okaa-sama!!!"

Mima's ears had indeed picked up Maria's scream.

Maria's call urged the unconscious Mima to wake up, but it wasn't enough to bring back her consciousness.

Even so, perhaps due to her motherly instinct, even without consciousness, a sense of urgency and impulse to "I must wake up quickly!" continued to struggle in the depths of her dark, submerged consciousness.

But even so, Mima only fully woke up about an hour after Genkon had left.

Unable to move as she wished, Mima used the table for support and shakily stood up.

(Has Maria been taken away by Genkon?

Tomoe should have been able to escape with Kanaho, but... how much time has passed?)

The lights had returned to the hall.

However, the fact that none of the household servants have come to see her, the master of the house, means that they are still not out of the state they were in after being attacked by Genkon.

Having made that judgement, Mima tried to force her unsteady body to move, even if only to get Sougi to wake up, in order to follow Genkon.

That's when she suddenly noticed the message cards scattered on the table.

Her eyes couldn't help but be drawn to them.

Maria and Tomo had offered it to Mima along with the chocolate.

Even though this was no time for such things, Mima, unconsciously, began to open the cards with weak, hesitant hands.

[To Okaa-sama]

Thank you for granting Tomoe's wish to be with Onee-sama.

I'll be enrolling in the academy and working hard alongside Onee-sama, so please teach me lots of magic.

I love you, Okaa-sama.

From Tomoe.

[To Mima-nee-sama]

Thank you so much for raising me like your own daughter, together with Tomoe-chan, after I lost my mother.

I always think of Onee-sama as another mother to me.

I will continue to do my best so that Onee-sama will think that the Madozono family has two wonderful daughters.

If there are any shortcomings in my conduct, please scold me properly.

With love

From Maria.

After reading the two messages, large tears began to stream down Mima's face.

"Uu! Uuuhhh! Aaaahhhhhhh!!"

Mima cried out in agony and collapsed to her knees.

Maria, her niece, entrusted to her by her deceased Onee-sama.

(A dark future… even though she might lose her life on that path, this young child is determined to protect everything.

Can I not even help this child?!

Can I not prevent that pure child from being defiled?!)

Overwhelmed by her own utter helplessness, Mima continued to shed tears mixed with anger and sorrow.

(I want power.....

The power to protect Maria, that brave and innocent child...!)

As Mima, drenched in tears, wished for this from the bottom of her heart...

From within Mima's body, the cry of a great bird welled up.

KAKYIIIIIIIIIIIINNN!

And, simultaneously with a deafening metallic sound, golden light filled the hall.

Mima widened her tear-filled eyes.

The Phoenix Staff had manifested before her eyes, in the air.

(Why...?

I haven't chanted the magic incantation required for the manifestation of the Phoenix Staff!)

Mima was so astonished that she stood there stunned for a moment.

(The Phoenix Staff manifested of its own free will!?

The Phoenix Staff, having heard my wish, will lend me its power.)

Mima almost thought this, but in her heart, she rejected that wish.

(The Phoenix Staff must have appeared to scold me.)

Wiping away her tears, Mima picked up the Phoenix Staff and closed her eyes.

(That's right, what a weakling, what a great fool I was.

If I'm a "Mother," I should recover immediately and do everything in my power to save my "Child"...!)

Mima's eyes snapped open, and she thrust the tip of the staff's base against her lower abdomen.

Then, concentrating her consciousness, she searched for and located the foreign object inside her body.

Then, using the purifying flames of the Phoenix Staff, which only incinerates demonic entities, Mima eliminates the demonic mark that Genkon had left inside her body.

"Ugh...!!"

While it was inevitable that there would be some internal damage from the aftershocks, she immediately used healing magic to fully restore her body.

Mima then approached the fallen Sougi and administered the same treatment.

"Agh!? Haa, ahh,... M-Madam....?"

Sougi awoke from intense pain and a feeling of being healed by magic, and, with a shaky mind, called out to her mistress who was looking down at her.

Mima leaned over Sougi and silently pressed her lips against her.

"Mmm, mmm... ha, ah... Madam...?"

"Maria has been kidnapped. We'll go after Genkon."

Releasing her lips and embracing Sougi, Mima stood up and concisely explained the current situation and the next course of action.

Sougi blinked for a few seconds, but regaining her composure, she immediately stood up.

"Understood. I apologize for the undignified display, Madam."

"That can wait. Wake Kanaya up. Gather everyone who can move now, and hurry to arm them as much as possible."

Ignoring Sougi's bowing head, Mima gave the highest priority instruction.

"Understood."

Sougi bowed again and began to wake Kanaya, who was still unconscious.

Mima took out her mobile device and launched an app.

It was an app to track the GPS signal.

The pendants she gave Maria and Tomoe tonight contained, for their safety, a state-of-the-art, ultra-compact GPS tracker.

(I never imagined I'd need to use its function the very day I gave them the gifts.

I'd included the tracker as a safety precaution, just in case, but I never expected it to be used so soon.)

The timing of the tracker becoming the means to save Maria sent chills down Mima's spine.

If she hadn't given Maria and Tomoe the pendants, even if she had regained consciousness, she wouldn't have known Maria's whereabouts at all, and she would have been completely stuck.

Feeling like she wanted to congratulate herself on her own security awareness, Mima concentrated on operating the device's screen.

Immediately afterward, she was astonished by the location displayed on the map.

"This place.... isn't it.... !?"

★★★

In the pitch-black darkness…a pale blue flame flickered within that space.

Following that flame, one after another, more flames arose.

The space illuminated by the rows of pale blue flames was a gigantic cavern.

The ceiling was a domed dome, with no gaps for sunlight to penetrate.

Except for the leveled ground, it was all a natural underground cavity.

.... No, there was one structure that was clearly man-made.

On the innermost wall of the cavern, there stood a gigantic, double-leaf stone door, adorned with decorations reminiscent of ocean waves.

It was about eight meters wide and perhaps ten meters high.

In front of this gigantic stone door, a group of men in black robes were gathered.

There were forty-eight of them.

They were all wearing masks that resembled snakes.

The masked men suddenly knelt down in unison.

Then, Genkon, the leader of the men, slowly appeared in the cave.

In his arms, he held the unconscious young girl... Maria.

Maria was dressed in a white garment called a Jōe.

"Behold! This generation's Saint is in my hands—tonight, I will offer this Saint as a sacrificial vessel, and bring back our God, the Absolute Chaos, Youshin, to this world!"

Genkon's words caused a murmur of awe among the masked men.

Yes, these men were members of the secret magic society, the Nayuta no Hebi.

The ultimate wish of the Nayuta no Hebi was to revive the God of Kaima, Youshin, and to destroy the female-dominated society.

That wish was about to be fulfilled!

The masked men's excitement was higher than ever before.

"Open the door wide open!!!"

Genkon commanded loudly.

The masked men immediately began chanting an ancient magic incantation.

The massive stone door slowly responded to the magical incantations of the forty-eight men.

Gooo~ Gooo~ Gooo~ Gooo~ Gooo~

With a rumbling sound like an earthquake, the stone door slid open to the left and right.

Inside the opened stone door, in that vast space, what was there?

It was a mass of flesh with a reddish-black skin.

An enormous number of gigantic tentacles.

They covered the ground, the walls, the ceiling—everything.

The skin of the tentacles seemed to secrete a viscous liquid, and illuminated by the pale blue flame outside the door, they gleamed with a slimy sheen.

All of the tentacles writhed and squirmed, as if demonstrating their very existence.

It was a sight so horrifying and blasphemous that it was almost unbearable for any human to witness.

"Now, our God!!! This is your new Vessel!!!

Please accept it!!!"

Genkon offered Maria's body to the swarm of tentacles.

Then, several dark red tentacles extended and entangled Maria's body.

They then pulled Maria's body towards the door, towards their dwelling place.

Next, another group of tentacles extended from the door towards the men who continued chanting the magic incantation.

The dark red tentacles wrapped around the bodies of the forty-eight men.

At that moment, something strange happened.

The masked men's chanting of the magic incantation fell apart.

The men's life force and magical power were being drained by the dark red tentacles.

But even then, the men did not stop chanting their magic incantations.

They were so fanatical in their faith in the Kaima God, Absolute Chaos Youshin, that they would sacrifice their own lives without hesitation.

As if responding to their fanaticism, a black mist began to emerge from the swarm of tentacles beyond the door.

Even in the darkest of night, this jet-black mist, still black, gradually transformed into a swirling current, flowing into Maria's body, which was entangled by the tentacles...

Maria's body twitched and jumped.

"Our God!!! Youshin!!! Now, descend upon us!!!"

Genkon screamed, spitting and drooling.

Yes, beyond the door of this gigantic cave lay the secret stone chamber where the Kaima God, Youshin, was sealed.

The swarm of massive, reddish-black tentacles filling the stone chamber were soulless, the remnants of the Kaima God.

By imbuing these tentacles with life force and magical power, the soul of the Kaima God, Absolute Chaos, would be revived in the material world, and placed into the vessel.

That was the ritual of this descent.

Maria was the "Sacrificial Offering"—the vessel—filled with magical power, necessary for the ritual.

The black current intensified, transforming into countless tornadoes that flowed into Maria's body.

Bound by the tentacles, Maria's body continued to bounce violently, as if resisting it.

It was like a small boat tossed about in a raging storm.

Eventually... the influx of "blackness" into Maria's body ceased.

Maria's body stopped convulsing, the men's chanting stopped, and silence descended.

"...... Fi~na~lly~......."

A voice that wasn't Maria's came from Maria's lips.

Hearing that voice, a triumphant smile appeared on Genkon's face.

He was certain that his long-cherished wish of over a thousand years had been fulfilled.

The god of the Kaima, the Absolute Chaos, Youshin, had been resurrected in this world.
