[First-Time Playthrough] I'm Playing BOG for the First Time!
"Hey everyone, how's it going? This is Emotional Potaku! and today, we're going to be playing a smartphone game called Bluff of Girls, or BOG for short. This is my first time playing it, so let's jump right in!"
As soon as I addressed the camera, a few reactions popped up.
・Hello!
・You're playing that gacha-game depression simulator...?
・It's not a depression game at all! The girls just go through a little bit of suffering, that's all!
I've only recently started getting viewers like this. I guess it's the result of steadily keeping up my activities as a streamer.
"Uh, why do all of you sound kind of scary...? I'm going to enjoy this as a first-time player, so no spoilers, okay? Otaku to otaku, that's a promise!"
・Otaku keeps promises
・Spoilers will make Potaku-san cry
While responding to the comments, I launched the game.
The beautiful opening movie showed girls fighting. Girls dressed in all sorts of outfits were wielding swords, axes, guns, and other weapons as they battled.
Behind them were collapsed houses and cracked asphalt.
"Oh, this girl is cute! The one fighting in the center! I can already stan her!"
・Ah, yeah...
・LMAO
・I've walked that road before
"What are those reactions supposed to mean!?"
I honestly said what I was thinking, only to get these suspiciously suggestive reactions from my viewers.
What the hell... Who even is this girl...!?
《TIPS》In BOG, some characters specialize in close-range combat while others excel at long-range attacks. Attacks also have different attributes, such as physical, magical, and explosive.
The tutorial battle was a familiar sight to anyone with experience playing gacha games.
Usually, clearing this is the rite of passage that lets you pull your first ten-pull.
BOG uses a system where you can freely move around a map divided into squares, making it what is commonly called a simulation RPG.
It's a fairly standard format, famous from games like Fire Emblem, and there's a decent amount of tactical strategy involved.
I cautiously familiarized myself with the controls and moved the characters around.
"Oh, this Raika girl is amazing! She can attack two squares away!"
・Long-range characters are strong. Just be careful because they're pretty fragile.
・Loli gunslinger, prpr
"But doesn't this girl have, like, completely dead eyes? Doesn't that kind of ruin her beautiful face?"
・That's Raika's whole identity
Apparently, the white-haired girl who looked like she was in elementary or middle school was named Usobuki Raika.
What an incredible surname, I thought, only to learn that it was apparently something like an alias. Apparently, when the Bluffers fight here, it's customary for them to choose their own surname. One of the viewers only briefly mentioned it in the comments, so I don't know the details.
The smallest girl of them all gripped a handgun in her tiny hands and proceeded to take down enemy after enemy. Every time she attacked, the camera zoomed in on her, showing Raika firing her handgun with perfect posture.
Apparently, she was a ranged character. Following the tutorial's instructions, I placed the character with the sword icon in front of her to protect her.
"A samurai girl! We've got a samurai girl! Tatewaki Hazuki-chan, the samurai girl!"
The black-haired girl with a ponytail swung her Japanese sword. After cutting down an enemy, she struck a cool finishing stance.
"Nice! The DNA of every otaku who inherited the ancient tradition of loving black-haired kendo girls with ponytails is screaming right now. Honestly, I'd love to get slapped by that ponytail, everyone."
・Uh...
・I don't remember inheriting any such DNA.
I continued defeating the fodder enemies while chatting with the viewers.
I also tried using Hibari Nozomigaoka, who had a very magical-girl-like appearance.
She attacked by firing bolts of light from her wand, and the way she winked at the camera after every little action was ridiculously cute and shamelessly pandering. Although... where exactly is there even a camera in the middle of this battlefield...?
Incidentally, my avatar, the protagonist (whom I named "Potaku-kun"), apparently couldn't be deployed during the tutorial yet.
After I finished off all the fodder enemies, an enemy that looked like the boss appeared. It was a wolf-like beast covered in some kind of black aura.
"It's so tanky! Hibari-chan's attacks aren't doing anything!"
・You're at a disadvantage attribute-wise.
・Hazuki's ultimate is charged.
I unleashed what seemed to be the samurai girl's ultimate attack on the giant wolf. Apparently, it was called "Phantasm Explosion."
It was a powerful attack that unleashed the FP gauge, which fills up through attacks and skills.
As the ultimate activated, a short cutscene played.
"My sword, my resolve, shall drive back the enemy!"
SHING!
A dull-gray slash flashed across the screen, dealing massive damage to the boss.
"Huh? The ultimate was more underwhelming than I expected. With how much effort they put into the graphics, I was expecting something a lot flashier."
・That's the R-rarity Hazuki from the tutorial.
・Potaku-san is pretty blunt about stuff like that, huh?
・The UR versions are cool.
・Her ponytail swayed, so I'm satisfied.
"Ahh, yeah, a swaying ponytail is pretty great. I still want to get slapped by one."
・Sorry, I don't understand that one...
・An otaku getting weirded out by another otaku
・I get it. I want to get slapped by a clean, well-kept ponytail and smell the shampoo afterward.
・Why is this stream so terrifying...
《TIPS》Even when using the same Bluffer character, different Dresses give them their own unique skills and Phantasm Explosions.
"So, with the tutorial finished, it's gacha time, everyone! Woooo! This is when I feel truly alive!"
・Gacha tiiiiiime!
・RIP! RIP! RIP!
・Potaku-san, you're not the type to reroll, right?
"I basically never reroll. I mean, you kind of feel like the first character you pull is destined to be yours, right? Besides, BOG is generous enough to guarantee one UR in the tutorial gacha, so there's really no need."
・"Generous" game...?
・My entire paycheck disappeared into this game.
・The swimsuit event... Ugh, my head...
I felt a little sorry for everyone in the comments. You could really sense the dark side of gacha games in their reactions.
I'd had similar experiences myself.
"All right, here we go!"
With some enthusiasm, I tapped the "10-Pull Gacha" button.
A silver flash appeared, and characters began emerging one after another.
R — [Blade That Cuts Down Evil] Tatewaki Hazuki
"Unless you make a mistake, I shall entrust this blade to you."
"Oh, it's the samurai girl from earlier. Her school uniform is cute too."
・All R-rarity Dresses are school uniforms.
・A completely unmodified school uniform... And the skirt is properly knee-length too. What a shame!
・Such a prim and proper girl, yet in summer she wears something so scandalous...
The characters continued appearing alongside their animations, each accompanied by a voice line.
It was nothing but silver flashes—the lowest rarity—but on the seventh pull, a golden light finally appeared.
"Oh! Is this an SR? A UR? I don't care which, just give me a cute girl, please!"
SR — [Limited Deployment] Kazunomiya Mana
"Armament, limited deployment. Energy loading confirmed. Target locked on. Center of gravity fixed. Initiating sweep sequence."
"She's got mechanical arms! And they're freaking huge! There's some kind of turret mounted on them! What is this? This is really scratching that part of my brain that loves cool machinery!"
・No matter how many times I see her, I still laugh at how she's the only one who looks like she belongs in a completely different universe.
・The Dresses are based on their own personal imagery, so it's not weird for them to be all over the place.
・She's strong in a completely different way from Raika's gun.
After the one SR card, the lowest-rarity cards continued to appear until the final guaranteed UR—the one I'd been waiting for.
"Rainbow light... All right, who's it gonna be? Who's coming!?"
Flash!
A girl appeared from within the sparkling light.
UR — [The Big Liar] Usobuki Raika
"As long as I'm here, I won't let a single one of them die. That's the only way I can atone for what I've done. ...Just kidding! It's all a lie. Don't make such a serious face. You really ought to have figured out by now that everything I say is a lie."
"It's the little loli gunslinger from the tutorial!"
・That's a great pull.
・A good start. Ranged attackers are pretty rare.
"Oh, wow, the graphics on this one are really detailed. Wait, why is she wearing a pantsuit?"
・That's UR Raika's outfit.
・Read the story properly and you'll understand why.
"Then I guess I'll make a team using the characters I just pulled along with the ones I got from the tutorial. I'll definitely put the UR in. Then maybe just balance the different attributes and fill out the remaining slots?"
I put together a five-person team: the samurai girl with close-range attacks, the loli gunslinger with ranged attacks, and the chuuni girl with magic attacks, then filled the remaining slots with whoever seemed appropriate.
"Come to think of it, there isn't a typical healer, is there?"
・The protagonist is the healer. He's deployed every time.
・YOU'RE THE HEALER NOW!
"What, the healer is a guy? Where's my kind, busty nun!? No! I want a girl to heal me! I want to feel that motherly warmth and go all 'bababoo'!"
・Gross.
・Unsubscribed.
・I'll heal you, babe.♡
"Wasn't it something like the protagonist being the world's anchor point, which lets him return the girls to their original state? I think I read some of that lore on the loading screen. Anyway, let's keep going and get into the story!"
・Don't suddenly go back to being serious.
・Chapter One is centered around the loli gunslinger Raika-chan and the samurai girl Hazuki.
・Can't wait to see Potaku-san's reaction.
The fact that Raika had apparently been given the shocking character trait of being a smoking loli was a story for another time.
【Announcement from the BOG Management Team】
In the June 15 update, we're introducing the June Bride Gacha!
Here are the new Dresses being added this time!
SR — [Jaded Bride] Usobuki Raika
"What the hell is this ridiculous outfit!? I'd never wear something like this in a million years! Damn it, why is this the only kind of Phantasm Armament I can manifest...? Fuck! I'm going out for a smoke!"
UR — [Shy Bride] Tatewaki Hazuki
"Um... I'm not sure whether someone like me can really pull off an outfit like this... Y-You think so? If that's what you say... I can't even imagine myself fulfilling the role of someone's wife... but... I suppose I hope that day will come someday."
