Trapped In Paradise

Volume 1 Chapter 66: The Academic Advisor

For Ning Chu, the long holiday had actually been more mentally stressful than relaxing.

He didn’t dare let Wen Yang go out alone, so he had no choice but to follow him around—going out to get some sun and work part-time, only to be talked into becoming a maid at a café.

Then there had been Zhang Shaoqing’s situation as well, leaving him physically and mentally exhausted over the past few days.

Fortunately, everything was finally over. At the moment, Wen Yang only seemed interested in staying in the dorm and playing games...

Early in the morning, just after getting out of bed, Ning Chu worriedly threw a jacket over himself.

Rubbing the corners of his eyes, he sighed and sat down in front of his computer.

The slight curves on his chest weren’t too difficult to deal with—they still weren’t that obvious. The problem was that the little red buds were far too conspicuous.

It was manageable in the dorm. With the air conditioning running, and his roommates already somewhat aware that something was unusual about him, wearing a jacket was enough to hide it.

But going to class was another matter. He was worried that if he went out in a jacket during the summer heat, he’d end up collapsing from heatstroke before long.

“Yo~ Such a weak body, huh?”

Zhang Shaoqing had just finished smoking on the balcony. The moment he came back inside, he noticed Ning Chu’s jacket and immediately started teasing him.

“What, is it that time of the month? Is that why you’re so afraid of the cold?”

By now, Ning Chu had learned to let this kind of teasing go in one ear and out the other. He had long realized that getting angry at someone as shameless as Zhang Shaoqing was completely useless. It was better just to ignore him.

Without even turning around, he continued watching the anime playing on his screen.

“Why are you making so much noise this early in the morning?”

Zhang Shaoqing had woken Wen Yang up. Wen Yang yawned and stretched, then looked down from his bed.

“Ning Chu, did you eat breakfast? You still need to take your medicine.”

“No.”

“Then should I bring something back from the cafeteria for you?”

Ning Chu looked up at him. Before he could say anything, Wen Yang nodded and sighed.

“Yeah, yeah, I know. No going on dates.”

“Now that’s what you call being henpecked!”

“I’m just worried he’ll get tricked,” Ning Chu explained coldly. “He’s too honest and awkward around girls, and with so many girls chasing after him, he could easily get scammed out of his money—or worse.”

“Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say.”

Zhang Shaoqing really had a talent for making people want to punch him!

Ning Chu suddenly realized that Zhang Shaoqing had actually been more likable when he was brooding and withdrawn!

Ning Chu shot him a vicious glare.

But Zhang Shaoqing looked as though he had just received a compliment, and his grin grew even wider.

Ning Chu was beginning to seriously suspect that the guy was a masochist!

Wen Yang agreed with Ning Chu. He really was somewhat introverted and easily became flustered around girls. As for being tricked physically, he didn’t care that much—after all, it was hard to say who would actually be taking advantage of whom.

But getting scammed out of money? That would be a real problem.

“What do you want to eat?”

As he asked, he supported himself on the bed rail with one hand and flipped over it. In less than a second, both feet landed firmly on the floor.

A height of around 1.67 meters was nothing to him.

Ning Chu caught the movement from the corner of his eye and curled his lips.

He was so jealous of Wen Yang’s physique and athletic ability! Even getting out of bed looked cool when Wen Yang did it.

He imagined himself trying the same move. Most likely, he would land face-first on the floor and send himself straight to the hospital.

“Dry noodles with wontons. And remember to add vinegar to the wontons—a lot of it.”

“Got it.”

Wen Yang went to the balcony to wash up. Within a few minutes, he had finished getting ready and, still wearing his slippers, was about to head out.

But just as he opened the door, Ning Chu called out from behind him.

“Oh, right! Buy me two boxes of Band-Aids too!”

“Where did you get hurt?” Wen Yang immediately turned around, looking nervous.

“Nowhere. I just want to keep some around.”

“Alright. I’ll stop by the supermarket on the way.”

Watching his back disappear through the closing door, Ning Chu let out a quiet sigh.

There wasn’t much he could do to hide the small, hill-like curves on his chest anymore. But perhaps he could still do something about those conspicuous little red buds.

He couldn’t seriously go out and buy a bra, then wear it in the dorm, could he?

For example, Band-Aids...

He had heard that girls sometimes used that little trick when wearing formal dresses to prevent anything from showing through.

Zhang Shaoqing then strode energetically over to Ning Chu’s side.

Zhang Shaoqing was the type who couldn’t sit still. Leaning against the wardrobe, he held up a small mirror and narcissistically admired his freshly dyed black hair as he asked,

“So where are we going today? If I stay in the dorm all day, I’m going to get bored to death.”

“Go out... There’s nowhere I particularly want to go.”

Ning Chu really didn’t want to leave the dorm.

What if he ran into some kind of pervert? What if Wen Yang got hit on by another girl? What if...

“The day after tomorrow, classes start again. Let’s go out and relax~ How about a massage? I had everything arranged last time, and then you led everyone in running away.”

“No!”

“Then how about Pingtong Mountain Scenic Area? They’ve got a hang-gliding base! And bungee jumping, roller coasters...”

“No... I’m afraid of heights.”

“A water park, then?”

“I’m afraid of water.”

Zhang Shaoqing frowned in dissatisfaction. “You’re fucking picky. Fine, then Wen Yang and I will go. You can stay in the dorm and rot by yourself.”

“...”

Ning Chu pursed his lips indifferently. If he didn’t go, Wen Yang probably wouldn’t go either.

And even if he wanted to, considering how well he had “trained” Wen Yang by now, a single order would probably settle the matter.

Suddenly, his phone vibrated lightly. He lowered his head and looked at the lit-up screen.

“Han Jingye?”

Zhang Shaoqing also leaned over to look at his phone. “What does the academic advisor want with you?”

“How would I know?”

Ning Chu immediately began to worry.

Although Han Jingye currently appeared to be an upright and dedicated advisor—and during the incident with Lin Li, it had even been Han Jingye who stepped in and prevented Wen Yang from being led astray by that troublesome woman—in the original plot, this guy was definitely not a good person.

Ning Chu really didn’t want to have anything to do with Han Jingye.

Still, he picked up his phone and reluctantly opened the message.

It was an @everyone message in the class group chat. It listed a number of upcoming activities and competitions, and Han Jingye required every student to participate in at least one of them during the semester.

Ning Chu casually scanned the list.

There was the sports meet, the New Year’s welcome gala, a provincial essay competition, a design competition, a basketball tournament...

“Yeah, I’m interested in absolutely none of that.” Zhang Shaoqing voiced exactly what Ning Chu was thinking. “Is that idiot advisor out of his mind?”

“Seriously. Something’s wrong with him.”

Who the hell makes participation mandatory?!

The tiny bit of goodwill Ning Chu had developed toward Han Jingye for being upright and dedicated instantly vanished. This guy really was the same asshole he had been in the novel!

Ning Chu didn’t usually swear, but internally, he was cursing just as much.

He was already busy disrupting the plot. Where was he supposed to find the time for all these pointless activities?

Han Jingye sent another message to the group.

“Those who have already chosen an activity can contact me now to register. If you have any special circumstances, you can message me privately to discuss them.”

“Idiot!”

The class chat, normally bustling with activity, was completely silent.

Ning Chu saw the familiar profile picture who sent that one word to the group.

He stared blankly and turned to look at Zhang Shaoqing, who wore an innocent expression.

“Well, he is an idiot.”

Looking back at the class group chat, Ning Chu saw that Wen Yang had also appeared and sent:

“+1.”

Good grief. Were these two trying to make their advisor so angry that he’d fall ill?

Ning Chu happily joined in and typed:

“+2.”

The class group immediately fell silent again.

Then all three roommates were muted for an entire month.

“You three, come to my office.”
