V3: Chapter 75: Do Dreams Not Lie?
The salty sea breeze howled, blowing into Octaville and Laura's mouths.
"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!"
Octaville spat repeatedly, wiping her mouth.
"This taste is fucking disgusting, I can't stand it."
"Okay, Laura, what do we do next?"
Laura cautiously crouched down on the beach, afraid some monster might emerge from the seabed and bite her head off.
"Someone in my dream told me I need to find that key to enter the ocean."
"If I am a key, then there's another one paired with me. You can't use only one; using only one won't completely seal the monster in the ocean."
Completely seal it?
Is such a thing really possible?
Octavia's heart pounded wildly.
She did want to completely seal the sea monster, but that was practically impossible. So, it might only last a hundred or two hundred years. But that would be enough; future generations would find ways to continue sealing the monster, not just rely on their predecessors.
"Okay, so, where is the key now?"
Laura stared at the turbulent sea, fear in her eyes. She resisted the urge to back away and slowly reached her hand towards the surface.
"If I remember correctly, it should be in the sea. Tell me in a different voice, it's in the sea. And in a very shallow area, not in the deep sea. I think it should be easy to find."
After Laura finished speaking, Octaville also crouched down. Her movements were much bolder than Laura's; she touched this and that, searching for the key.
“I’ll search with you; three people will definitely search faster.”
Hilary, seemingly out of nowhere, appeared behind the two. She joined them, squatting down and searching for the key.
Two hours passed, and they still found nothing.
“Huh…?”
“This is really strange, it can’t be.”
Laura murmured.
“The place that person in my dream told me about was right here, why isn’t it here?”
Octaville simply sighed, silently stood up, and walked towards the Magic Tower.
“It’s so big. Even without searching in the sea, it will take a long time just to find it on the beach. The three of us can’t possibly explore the entire beach in a short time. So, I’ll go to the Magic Tower and get a few more people to search with us.”
And so, this group of mages began their search on the beach. From a distance, it looked like they were scavenging for trash.
The group worked until dark, but still hadn't found the legendary key, not even a trace of it. Of course, they hadn't searched the entire beach either; the sea was simply too vast, and it would probably take a week to explore the whole area.
"Phew~"
Octaville stood up wearily, feeling a soreness in her lower back.
"Sigh."
Hilary also stood up, her face full of worry, and let out a heavy sigh.
The group had been working hard all day.
Octaville couldn't bear to see Hilary looking so miserable, so she started to joke, "Oh dear, doing this work is much more tiring than when I'm tossing you around in bed."
Hilary glared at her, annoyed.
"Seriously, you can't stand not making a dirty joke all day."
Of course, she wasn't really angry; a smile still lingered on her lips.
A little joke can indeed relax the body.
Octaville chuckled along.
Laura, however, frowned deeply.
"It should be, it really shouldn't be... It should be right here, a dream, a dream never makes a mistake."
But, is a dream truly infallible?
Just then, two familiar figures appeared on the beach.
"Hey! I heard you're looking for some key?"
It was Liang Lin's voice.
Liang Lin, holding Liang Di's small hand, ran quickly towards them.
"Is this the key you're looking for? Is it the one I'm holding?"
Liang Lin spoke, raising the hand holding the key above her head and waving it vigorously.
"Is this the one?"
Everyone squinted and saw a golden object in Liang Lin's hand.
"Ah!"
Octaville's face lit up with a smile, and she quickly nudged the stunned Laura beside her.
"Laura, go check, is this the key?"
Laura finally recovered from her shock, and for once, a slight smile appeared on her usually tense lips.
Liang Lin and Liang Di had already run to the group.
Liang Lin carefully opened her palm, revealing a gleaming golden key.
"Quick, quick, who needs the key? Laura? Is this the key?"
"Yes…! This is it!"
Laura's voice became excited.
"Great!"
She even jumped up and down on the spot, then spun around.
At this, the scene suddenly fell silent.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
Four seconds.
Five seconds…
"Oh oh oh!!!"
A burst of enthusiastic cheers suddenly erupted from the beach, everyone dancing and waving like idiots.
"Finally! Finally!"
"I thought we'd be searching for it for a week, maybe even half a month!"
"I never expected it to be in Miss Liang Lin and Miss Liang Di's hands!"
"Hahaha! Heaven has smiled upon us! Heaven has smiled upon us!"
The magicians, who had been busy all day, finally breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone was genuinely happy, celebrating, and even excitedly hugging each other.
After the cheers subsided, Octaville remembered to ask a question.
She pointed to the key in Liang Lin's hand.
"But where did you get this key? We searched the beach all day and couldn't find it. Where did you find it?"
Liang Lin and Liang Di, one after the other, recounted everything that had happened in the past few days.
"We were waiting for you to come looking for us, but a week has passed and you still haven't contacted us. It was so worrying, so we came directly here."
Just then, Laura suddenly frowned again.
“But the voice in my dream told me it could only be found by the sea, that the key was still there, and that I had to find it myself, giving me the exact location. But why haven’t I found it? Why… No, dreams don’t lie to me.”
“Dreams don’t lie to you”
Liang Di repeatedly chewed on this phrase.
“Dreams don't lie?”
