V3: Chapter 85: The Imposter
“I think… I see it.”
Those deep, dark eyes.
Unlike what Octaville saw in the sea, Liang Lin felt that this eyeball was more like a beautiful whirlpool, drawing people in.
“Is this… the place?”
Ah…
This huge, sapphire-blue eye… it looks just like Liang Di’s eyes.
“This is it,” Laura said.
The two slowly floated down from the sea, finally landing on the sand floor beside the eye.
“What should we do next?”
“You’ve never told me about the sealing process, or how to use the key.”
“Leave it to me.”
Laura held out her hand to Liang Lin.
"What?"
"The key."
Liang Lin blinked, her gaze slowly shifting downwards. "But the key has always been with you. Why are you asking me for it?"
Upon hearing this, Laura seemed stunned. Her gaze followed Liang Lin's gaze, slowly moving down to her waist. Sure enough, there was a gleaming gold key.
"Is it... with me?"
She blinked a couple of times, confused, and looked at Liang Lin again.
Liang Lin stared at her with an extremely strange look. "Laura, this key has always been with you. How could you forget that?"
Hearing this, Laura immediately forced a stiff smile.
“How could I forget… I was just too scared, I couldn’t remember for a moment. Now that you’ve mentioned it, I remember.”
“Oh…”
Liang Lin nodded thoughtfully, extending her hand to Laura. “Then, give me the key. I’ll keep it for you. With your careless nature, don’t lose it again.”
Seeing this, Laura immediately took a step back.
“I need this key soon, so I’m not giving it to you. We’re about to seal it, and I’ll need it then. You wouldn’t know how to use it.”
“Ah…”
Liang Lin drawled, “Oh, I see. Okay then.”
After saying this, she withdrew her hand.
“Then you can start. Let’s finish quickly so we can go home quickly.”
Liang Lin glanced at the eye.
“I really didn’t expect it. Sealing it was so easy! All that worrying for nothing. There were just too many hallucinations along the way. But they’re minor problems; we still made it here.”
Liang Lin turned back, giving Laura a sly smile, as always, a smile so malevolent it sent chills down one’s spine. “Hurry up and start, Laura. Don’t just stand there.”
Laura hesitated for a moment. “Okay…”
She walked to the eye, raising the hand holding the key high.
Under Liang Lin’s expectant gaze, Laura’s lips parted completely, like a venomous snake flicking its tongue.
“Hehe.”
A strange laugh.
The key slowly fell, about to hit the center of the eye.
“Hehe, stuPiD…”
The thing only laughed for a second.
“Pfft!”
It was pierced through the back by Liang Lin's sword.
"Cough!"
The monster spat out a mouthful of black blood.
"WhAt goOD will iT do yOU to KiLL me NoW? You've aLReady loST a kEy..."
Liang Lin laughed. "Fool, when did I ever say the key you had was the real key? And you believe everything I say? You're really gullible."
Upon hearing this, the monster froze completely.
Then, seemingly enraged, Laura's skin exploded, and from the pores beneath, black tentacles of varying sizes and lengths surged forth. They rushed out, aiming straight for Liang Lin.
Liang Lin swung her longsword.
Slash!
All the tentacles snapped off, falling to the ground.
"Disgusting. Even after all this time, seeing these tentacles still makes me sick."
Liang Lin looked at the tentacle monster with disgust.
"You should die. Before you die, tell me where Laura is?"
No wonder the tentacles grew back, returning to their original state.
"Do yOU tHInk I'd TEll you soMethINg likE THat?"
Liang Lin grew impatient. "You're wasting too much time. You might as well die. I'll find her myself. Instead of wasting my breath here, I'll go find her myself. You useless thing!"
With that, Liang Lin raised her sword, pushed off with her back leg, and thrust it forward. The monster's tentacles immediately curled up, forming a ball to protect its vital heart.
Liang Lin, trained to spot the monster's weakness, could now see it clearly.
"It's right there."
Liang Lin narrowed her eyes, aiming straight for the tentacle.
"Pfft!"
Layer after layer pierced through, black blood splattered in the water, like ink mixing with clear water. But this ink couldn't dissolve in the clear water, just as those cruel monsters could never integrate into humans.
The longsword pierced the monster's heart completely.
"Pfft!"
The monster exploded, turning into countless black fragments, utterly disgusting.
Liang Lin wiped her longsword with disgust.
"Following me, you've really suffered, spending all my time killing these disgusting things."
After saying this, Liang Lin sheathed her sword back into her waistband.
Now she should go find Laura.
But where was Laura? Liang Lin had no clue.
"I... I'm here..."
From a dark corner, a small, pale hand silently reached out, crying for help.
"Miss Liang Lin! Help me, I'm being crushed to death..."
The voice sounded like she was struggling to breathe.
Liang Lin was startled and immediately ran towards the direction of the sound. Under a boulder, she saw Laura, her left leg crushed.
Laura's face was deathly pale; her leg seemed broken, and blood was everywhere, a sight that horrified Liang Lin. Although she herself often suffered serious injuries, she was used to it having grown up on the battlefield. Seeing such a delicate young girl injured, Liang Lin couldn't help but worry.
"It's alright, I'll move the rock. Your leg will be fine. Prescott has a healing potion; after I apply it, you'll be all better. Don't worry, you definitely won't be lame."
Liang Lin used all her mental capacity to reassure her, and with a sudden burst of strength, she lifted the rock that was pressing on Laura's leg.
She was incredibly strong, a true "muscle Barbie," there was nothing she could do.
Laura's leg was finally free, and she finally had the strength to cry out.
"Waaah... why, why is it so difficult... why are there so many dangers along the way? Why, why do I have to go through all this...waaah..."
