V3: Chapter 81: A Living Reefs

“I'll just take you there directly. I think… I remember the way.”

Laura led Liang Lin and Octaville slowly downwards, passing through layers of rolling waves. As they entered the fog-shrouded sea, an indescribable chill crept in.

The seawater became exceptionally cold, each drop containing millennia of icy energy that seeped into their very bones. As they increased in depth, the light gradually dissipated, plunging them into complete darkness. Only the faint magical fire in Octaville's hand barely illuminated a few meters ahead.

Just then, a dense cluster of echoes suddenly appeared before the three of them, resembling underwater mountains or countless ferocious beasts. As they continued to descend, the echoes became clearer and clearer, eventually transforming into the eerie group of reefs before them.

The reefs were arranged in a staggered pattern, like ancient cities forgotten by time, or labyrinths sculpted by the waves. The surface of the reefs was covered in moss and seaweed, making them exceptionally slippery, as if an invisible hand could drag the three of them into an endless abyss of darkness at any moment.

Wandering through this group of reefs was like entering a dark labyrinth.

Every passage was fraught with unknown dangers; a slight misstep could result in cuts from sharp rocks or even a direct collision with boulders hidden in the shadows.

The firelight in Octaville's hand flickered among the reefs, illuminating patch after patch of darkness ahead.

However, each time the firelight went out, darkness surged in like a tide, swallowing everything.

In this darkness, countless eyes seemed to be watching the three girls, waiting for the moment they would make a mistake.

Suddenly.

"Don't move!"

Octaville shouted.

Not far ahead, a huge creature seemed to be moving.

Liang Lin and Laura stared nervously ahead, seeing a massive black shadow, appearing and disappearing among the reefs. However, the figure vanished quickly and never reappeared, seemingly just their imagination, or perhaps merely a fleeting moment.

“Keep going down,” Laura said, shivering.

As Liang Lin and the others ventured deeper, the surrounding temperature dropped further, seemingly approaching the frigid depths of the ocean.

Just then, a faint and eerie sound suddenly echoed around them, as if from the depths of the abyss, or perhaps from another dimension.

The sound was deep and drawn-out, like an ancient incantation, summoning some unknown power.

Liang Lin, Laura, and Octaville exchanged bewildered glances, their hearts filled with fear and unease.

The reefs were slowly moving, as if alive, approaching them.

As the reefs drew closer, the three finally saw the creatures hidden in the darkness.

They were enormous sea creatures, their bodies dark gray, their surfaces covered in uneven scales, like ancient armor. Their eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, looking utterly terrifying.

“Wait, look over there.”

Octaville didn't rush to fight, but pointed to the side.

In the center of this group of reefs, a huge cave was hidden. The entrance was obscured by a massive rock, and only at specific times and angles could a faint sliver of light pierce through.

“Let’s go in.”

Inside the cave was a vast underwater palace, its walls inlaid with countless dazzling gems and pearls, shimmering with brilliant light. In the center of the palace stood a massive altar, upon which rested an ancient artifact, exuding a mysterious aura.

The reefs caught up.

“I’ll cover your retreat, you guys go in quickly.”

Octaville stopped.

Liang Lin and Laura didn't refuse, nodded, and swam deeper into the palace.

As Octaville entered the vicinity of the reefs, seemingly massive rocks rose from the seabed, crashing down upon her with a deafening roar, while the surrounding waters surged and threatened to engulf her.

Octaville reacted swiftly, waving her wand, and a golden magical barrier appeared before her, blocking the rocks' attack.

The reefs did not give up; they continued their fierce assault, each attempt trying to breach Octaville's defenses.

Faced with the reefs' relentless onslaught, Octaville ceased her passive defense.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began chanting an ancient magical incantation. As the incantation began, the air around her heated up, and a powerful magical force surged within her.

When the incantation ended, Octaville abruptly opened her eyes, and a dazzling flame shot from her hand, heading straight for the reefs. Wherever it passed, rocks shattered, and the seawater evaporated, turning into a white mist.

However, the reefs were not destroyed by the flames. Instead, they seemed to absorb the power of the fire, becoming even harder and stronger.

They began to emit low roars, and the surrounding seawater began to surge, preparing for their counterattack.

Just then, Octaville felt a powerful magical force emanating from the seabed.

She looked down and saw a dark light rising from the seabed, heading straight for her. It was a summons from the abyss, attempting to pull her into endless darkness.

Octaville took a deep breath, then swung her magic staff. A beam of blue magical light shot from her hand, colliding with the dark light in mid-air.

The two beams of light intertwined and collided in the air, producing a deafening roar. The surrounding seawater, churned by this force, surged violently, threatening to engulf the entire world.

Octaville gripped her magic staff tightly, her eyes flashing with unwavering determination.

She could not back down, for this battle concerned the fate of the entire world.

As the two beams of light collided, Octaville and the reefs began their true magical duel. She wielded her wand, unleashing a barrage of powerful magical attacks in an attempt to destroy the reefs.

However, the reefs were no pushovers. They relentlessly retaliated, each time trying to breach her defenses. In this fierce magical battle, Octaville summoned a sky full of lightning and storms, attempting to utterly destroy the reefs. However, the reefs and the evil forces seemed to possess inexhaustible power; their counterattacks grew ever more ferocious and intense.

Octaville felt her magical power dwindling. She knew that if she couldn't find a way to defeat the reefs quickly, she would be defeated in this battle.
