V3: Chapter 77: Into the Darkness

The sky had darkened.

Night fell, stars adorned the inky sky, and the salty sea breeze brushed against Liang Lin's face.

Liang Lin stood on the beach, gazing at the rolling waves, her heart filled with both anticipation and unease.

Everything was for the safety of everyone in the world.

"Get ready, I'm about to begin."

Octaville grasped Laura's hand, simultaneously reminding Liang Lin.

Liang Lin took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and softly chanted the incantation. As the magic activated, her body gradually became lighter, as if lifted by an invisible force, slowly descending into the sea.

The seawater enveloped her, but she felt no discomfort; on the contrary, she could clearly perceive everything around her.

This was the wonder of magic.

"You can communicate with me, and you can open your eyes underwater; you don't need to close them."

Octaville's voice echoed in Liang Lin and Laura's minds. Upon hearing this, both Liang Lin and Laura obediently opened their eyes.

Darkness, an unprecedented darkness.

Even with Liang Lin's keen senses, she couldn't penetrate this dense darkness. She felt as if she were trapped in an endless black hole, hearing nothing but her own heartbeat and breathing.

Octaville felt the same way.

Laura, however, appeared utterly panicked, even starting to paddle wildly.

Fortunately, Octaville and Liang Lin were beside her and pulled her back in time; otherwise, who knows where she would have ended up.

“Where are we going now?”

Liang Lin asked.

Octaville pointed to Laura beside her.

“Laura knows the place, have her lead us.”

“Okay.”

Actually, Liang Lin, Octaville, and Laura had just lied. Facing so many magicians and their loving families, they had to tell this lie.

In reality, this wasn't just a survey of the terrain, nor was it just a quick trip to the seabed followed by a few days' return.

This time, they were truly going down to seal the monster with the key.

They had to say this, otherwise, Hilary and Liang Di would pester them to lead them down.

This was something Liang Lin had told Octaville a long time ago.

Octaville agreed.

“I… I can’t determine my direction. It’s so dark all around.”

Just as Liang Lin was lost in thought, Laura’s sophisticated voice boomed in her ears.

Can’t determine direction?

Liang Lin and Octaville's hearts skipped a beat.

If they couldn't determine their location, where would they even begin their search?

"Didn't the person in your dream tell you what the underwater environment is like?" Liang Lin asked.

Laura's eyes reddened, and she shook her head.

Instantly, all three of them felt as if they were facing a formidable enemy.

It was so quiet around them, eerily quiet.

However, in this deathly silence, a low, eerie cry suddenly rang out.

The sound seemed to come from the bottom of an abyss, carrying endless fear and despair, striking directly into the depths of Liang Lin, Laura, and Octaville's souls. Their bodies trembled involuntarily, an unprecedented fear surging within them.

They hadn't seen anything, just heard this sound, and they were already feeling fear?

Liang Lin felt her trembling body and silently berated herself for being so weak.

Octaville forced herself to calm down, releasing a faint light with magic in an attempt to illuminate their surroundings.

However, the light seemed to be swallowed by the darkness, only illuminating a small area in front of them. She took a deep breath and began to slowly swim forward, pulling Liang Lin and Laura along, trying to find the source of the sound.

Laura was almost in tears. Although she hadn't seen anything terrifying yet and wasn't about to faint, she was afraid that what horrific scene she might witness would cause her to faint at the bottom of the sea.

As they went deeper, the screams became clearer and more terrifying.

All three felt as if an invisible hand was gripping their hearts tightly, each beat accompanied by intense pain. They began to doubt their decision, whether it was really necessary for…

No!

Liang Lin and Octaville shook their heads simultaneously.

How could such a thought have arisen so inexplicably? Sure enough, sure enough, these screams could affect one's mind, I don't know…

The two looked at Laura at the same time.

In the darkness, nothing could be seen clearly, but they could clearly sense Laura silently retreating.

"Laura!"

Liang Lin shouted, disregarding whether her voice would disturb the monsters around them. Laura had begun to struggle, trying to break free from their grasp.

No, if Laura escaped, she might die in the monsters' mouths.

Liang Lin and Octaville joined forces, one holding Laura's arm, the other her waist.

They didn't have time to offer any words of comfort, because the surrounding water was turbulent, as if something terrifying was approaching. They had to find a relatively safe spot to talk to Laura while ensuring their own safety.

Liang Lin and Octaville, holding Laura, continued diving deeper.

Just then, all three of them saw a blurry figure moving in the darkness.

The figure was enormous and twisted, seemingly composed of countless dark tentacles.

Liang Lin and Octaville's hearts tightened. They realized the monster might have appeared.

"Aaaaaah!!!"

Laura let out a sharp, explosive scream, then slumped down, collapsing unconscious into their arms.

It's over!

The worst, the worst-case scenario has unfolded!

Liang Lin and Octaville were completely overwhelmed. They had to fight the monster while also caring for the unconscious Laura; they simply didn't have the spare hands or brains!

Just then, Liang Lin's body jolted.

"Octaville... look there, what's that?"

Liang Lin's body began to tremble uncontrollably, her finger trembling as she pointed behind Octaville.

It was a gigantic, formless creature, with only a pair of eyes gleaming with an eerie light floating in the darkness. Those eyes seemed capable of piercing through everything, staring straight into the depths of one's soul.

When Liang Lin first saw it, she felt as if her mind had been frozen, unable to move.

"....YoU theRE..... "

Someone is speaking?

She wanted to tell Octaville that someone was speaking, but she couldn't make a sound.

Strangely, instead of attacking her immediately, it communicated with her in a strange tone. The voice seemed to come from a distant void, filled with both allure and danger.
