V3: Chapter 88 (Final): I'm Sorry, But I'm the Happiest Hero in the World! End

"PuLL out THat keY. If YOu do, I CAn givE yoU eveRYthing you WAnt."

"I... aM a 'GOD'! I am YOur 'GOD'!"

The voice was deep and resonant.

Liang Lin was silent for a few seconds before finally speaking, "Since you are our 'god,' why were you sealed away by us?"

"'PeoPle' aRe diVIded into gOOd and BAd, so 'GODS' are aLSo DIVided into GOod Gods and BAd gOds."

At this point, Liang Lin's tone shifted.

"You... can give me what I want?"

"Of coURse I cAN give you WHatEVER you want!"

The so-called 'god' seemed to become excited, his voice changing and rising significantly.

Liang Lin smiled, "I'm sorry, I'm very happy now. I don't need anything. The only thing I want is to kill you and then reunite with my family."

Still so stubborn, she couldn't afford to lose even if she lost a verbal battle.

Boom!

Two cuts.

Three cuts.

Four cuts.

Five cuts…

The tentacle was already riddled with wounds.

“So tired…”

Liang Lin’s face was still pale, her right eye almost closed. She struggled to stay upright, putting up a final stand.

Her arm had dislocated several times, but Liang Lin had managed to set it herself. However, her leg was broken by the tentacle, causing her to limp. She could only stay where she was, guarding Laura.

Finally, the tentacle retracted.

“Ah… Is it over? Can I finally rest properly?”

Liang Lin sat back down beside Laura.

The booming sound made Liang Lin’s ears ache in waves, until finally, she couldn’t hear anything at all. Liang Lin wondered if she had gone deaf.

There was no sound, only silence all around, and a light ahead.

Liang Lin looked down at the eye.

The eye was tightly closed, no longer displaying its sapphire blue iris, only long eyelashes and an eyelid.

Closed? Did that mean we can get out now?

She remembered Laura saying… if the eyes were closed and light appeared ahead, they could get out safely.

Bruisted and even limping, Liang Lin grabbed the longsword from Laura's chest and pulled it back to her waist.

"Laura, we should go."

Liang Lin helped Laura up.

Laura was completely unconscious, seemingly from blood loss; her face was pale, her body cold, as if she were dead.

Liang Lin's heart skipped a beat.

Could she really be dead?

She quickened her pace, rushing towards the light.

The light was getting closer.

Liang Lin excitedly reached out, wanting to touch the light.

My dearest family, I'm coming home…

I remember before… how cold, arrogant, and self-righteous I was. I was so young then… Now, I'm not like that anymore. This is probably what growing up is like.

It's good.

Countless thoughts flooded Liang Lin's mind.

Of course, her sense of justice and kindness remained unchanged; she still loved the Soteland Empire and its people the most.

“The meaning of my life is the happiness of my people. Now it's all sealed away. No more monsters will surge ashore; they'll just languish like maggots on the seabed.”

Liang Lin shouted excitedly, but her mind was already clouded.

“I've finally found the meaning of my life… If I could, I would want happiness, I don't want to die… If I could…”

The instant Liang Lin finished speaking, her hand touched the light. Liang Lin's vision went white, and then she completely fainted.

She only fainted for a few seconds.

Because she heard a familiar sobbing voice in the group chat.

Liang Lin forced her eyes open and found Liang Di sobbing in her arms, while Laura beside her was also sobbing in Gladys's arms.

"Don't cry... I'm... back, aren't I?"

Liang Lin snuggled closer to Liang Di and the others.

"I'll sleep for a while, please, I can finally sleep peacefully..."

Liang Lin really couldn't hold on any longer.

Liang Di placed a gentle kiss on Liang Lin's forehead, tenderly stroking her cheek.

"Sleep, my sister, sleep forever in my arms..."

Ah, those familiar, possessive words brought Liang Lin immense peace.

Was this Stockholm Syndrome? Developing boundless love for someone who had bullied me.

Liang Lin couldn't understand it, so she simply stopped thinking about it and drifted off to sleep, feeling dizzy and disoriented.

When Liang Lin woke up, three days had passed.

During that time, Hilary visited several times, but her brow was furrowed, as if something was troubling her.

What was troubling her?

Liang Lin had a bad feeling.

"Sister, hasn't Octaville returned yet?"

Her question hit the nail on the head, and Gladys's eyes instantly reddened.

"It's been five whole days, and Fu still hasn't returned. Could it be... could it be that she's been killed?"

Liang Lin struggled to sit up, wanting to tell her sister, "I'll help you look." However, she was too weak to stand and was pushed back onto the bed by Hilary.

"Just rest, don't struggle. There are many magicians here; if we search together, we'll definitely find her."

Ten days passed.

Hilary was utterly desperate. She sat blankly by the sea every day, gazing at the boundless blue ocean. Now she could approach the shore without fear; no more tentacle monsters surged up.

It was a peaceful sea, a beautiful sea.

"Fu, where are you? Come back... Come back, Fu, I miss you so much..."

Hilary's eyes reddened again. She hugged her legs tightly, buried her face in her knees, and silently wept.

"Why are you crying like this? It's a pity, I'm soaking wet, I can't wipe your face. If I do, your face will get even wetter."

Hilary's eyes widened slowly, looking at her in disbelief.

"Fu!"

Hilary excitedly hugged her, like a teddy bear, clinging tightly to Octaville.

Octaville went back, took a shower, and changed into normal clothes.

Liang Lin could now get out of bed and walk, while Laura lay in bed, receiving treatment from the magicians, unconscious. But thankfully, she was still alive.

Prescott arrived, developing a new drug to help Laura stand up again.

Liang Lin and Octaville sat side by side on the sofa, their wives beside them.

Liang Lin had a question for Octaville.

"Why were you in the sea for so many days?"

Octaville smiled awkwardly, lowered her head, and couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh dear, I'm terrible with directions. The light you emitted when you sealed it was so bright, then it shrank, and I knew it was successful, so I felt relieved. Of course, I didn't dare go in."

"And then?" Liang Lin's question remained: how did Octaville get back?

Hilary was also curious and kept shaking Octaville's body.

Octaville had no choice but to lower her head. "I... I really couldn't find my way, so I tried to draw a teleportation magic circle," but the water directly disturbed the sand, so I couldn't draw it properly.

At this point, Liang Lin sighed.

“So I thought of a good idea: to carve words on the rocks at the bottom of the sea, directly carving magic circles. Unfortunately, the rocks were all too hard; it took me several days to finally finish.”

“And then?”

“Then I came back~” Octaville seemed to be pouting cutely, then successfully made herself laugh in a disgusting way.

Liang Lin: You're sick.

Octaville was back, and Hilary was overjoyed, much more than that, snuggling in Octaville's arms all day long, like a newlywed couple, not an old married couple at all.

“Are you guys thinking of giving Alice a little sister or brother?” Liang Lin said.

“Nonsense.”

The group was still at the Seaside Magic Tower because Laura hadn't woken up yet.

“Laura, when are you going to wake up? I want to go home and see my daughter.”

Liang Lin stood in front of Laura's bedside, idly tapping Laura's arm.

Suddenly, Laura jerked.

"Laura's awake! Laura's waking up!"

The shout echoed through the next room.

Gladys was the first to pounce, nearly suffocating the poor girl from the pressure.

"Ugh, cough, cough!"

Laura coughed violently, while Liang Lin gently patted her back, seemingly trying to soothe her.

Liang Lin suddenly remembered the heartless words she'd said underwater, wondering if Laura remembered them. She really wasn't good at apologizing; apologizing was just too embarrassing—oh, except for Liang Di.

"I'm fine. I know what you chose. If it were me, I would have made you choose this too. There's no need to apologize. Thank you, Miss Liang Lin, for letting me be a Hero."

Laura smiled brightly.

"...Okay."

Liang Lin was touched, but she was a tsundere, ah, she couldn't say it. She could only say "good, very good," "excellent," like a machine.

"Then I won't disturb you two any longer. Remember to be careful of your wounds!"

"Tsk!" Gladys was just about to blush and get angry when the door slammed shut with a loud "bang."

"Hmph hmph hmph~"

Liang Lin hummed a little tune, looking very happy. She skipped and hopped, seemingly back to her childhood, laughing happily without saying a word.

Okay, there's still a grumpy one, no problem, we have plenty of ways to treat grumpy dogs, right?

Caring only about her own happiness... that's good.

Is this how many people's childhoods are?

Liang Lin didn't know, but what she did know was that she was about to see her precious child—those handfuls of vegetables, enough to last a year.

...Liang Di! Let's go home, I miss my child!

Laura was better, though still a little weak and often had chest pains, but her spirits were good, and she seemed to be able to use the teleportation magic circle.

Three days later.

Nothing had changed at Langwendi residence; only the people had changed.

How tragic.

"Mommy!"

A child's innocent voice rang out, instantly breaking Liang Lin's sorrowful thoughts. She turned around in surprise and saw the little dumpling rushing over with delight.

"Wow~ That's amazing."

Liang Lin caught Carol steadily.

She held Carol in her arms and said to Liang Di beside her, "Let's go upstairs in a bit. You hold Philomena, okay?"

"Okay, okay, it's about balance~ Besides, both our daughters, the older and the younger, are incredibly cute! There's no need to listen to others, to have those negative feelings of comparison. If someone says you're not pretty, just tell Mom and Dad, and we'll throw them in the freezer and never care about you again!"

Philomena never makes a fuss. She lies there quietly, not even making a sound when she turns over.

"Our family photo needs changing."

Liang Lin looked at the huge family photo.

"Let's change it every year, to record our children's growth. I'll call an artist over now, and we'll paint a new family photo~"

"Okay."

Liang Di smiled sweetly, with adorable dimples on her cheeks.

Liang Lin suddenly felt very fortunate that she married Liang Di.

If others knew she had a man's soul and a woman's body, finding a woman to live with would be extremely difficult. In this day and age, homosexuality is the most despised thing, after all.

She didn't want to marry a man either; it was disgusting. That was true homosexuality. She still preferred pretty older women. Although her body had changed, her taste had never changed; she always loved pretty older women.

So… she was prepared to live a lonely life.

Fortunately, Liang Di appeared.

“Liang Di, it’s so good to know you~ I really want to stay by your side forever,”

Liang Di was stunned.

It was the first time she had heard her sister’s voice so charming. For a moment, she was dazed and didn’t even know how to respond. Her face slowly turned red, like a red balloon about to burst.

Liang Di placed Philomena on Liang Lin’s lap.

“Ah…”

Liang Di’s lips touched Liang Lin’s cheek.

“Okay! Just like that, just like that! Ladies, please stay still…”

Three hours passed.

“All done!”

The artist respectfully handed the family portrait to Liang Lin.

"Alright, hang this one up too. Don't put away the old family photo; just put them in order, it looks better that way."

Liang Lin looked at the family photo and smiled.

"It's so nice. Now I know what a real family feels like."

"I hope all the evil people in the world are cursed by Cthulhu."

"My absolute justice. When will everyone accept it?"

"Liang Di, I love you. This love, like Stockholm syndrome, is unforgettable, it has made me fall for you. Thank you for showing me that feelings can be this crazy."

Liang Lin murmured.

Liang Di heard everything.

"Hehe..."

She laughed foolishly.

"Even a sad sister is still beautiful."

Liang Di put one arm around Philomena, raised the other arm and hooked it around Liang Lin's neck, and with a pull, Liang Lin leaned in.

"Mua~"

Soft lips pressed against Liang Lin's lips.

A passionate kiss ensued, the two drawing ever closer.

Carol, who was pushed aside: "....."

Philomena, about to be squeezed into a baguette shape: "....."

"This is so annoying!"

"You guys are awful!"
